Dear Shareholders, Partners and Friends of Animoca Brands,

Today we are extremely proud to announce a very special moment in the history of Animoca Brands: with the capital raise of US$88,888,888 that we just completed, our company has officially achieved unicorn status by being valued at a billion dollars (pre-money). I think it is important to spend a few moments to reflect on how we got this far and what lies ahead.

Nearly three years ago we explained our vision for the NFT ecosystem, but our grand masterplan to become a significant force in this space actually kicked off a…

A crypto experiment on the future of F2P gaming

At Animoca Brands we fully and unreservedly embrace blockchain and play-to-earn as the future of gaming, but a major part of our income still derives from free-to-play (F2P) games, such as Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, Crazy Defense Heroes, and Snoopy’s Town Tale. As a result, we spend a lot of time considering the question of how to combine blockchain economics with F2P inflationary game design. We have come up with an experimental method to blend together elements of these two very different systems.

F2P and play-to-earn: different by design

Combining blockchain…

I remember explaining to bewildered friends and colleagues (overseas) in February on the scale of panic and disruption the Coronavirus outbreak caused in Hong Kong and now unfortunately the rest of the world is struggling with it as well. While there are plenty of common sense tips and suggestions/recommendations on how tackle it I thought it helpful to share some of our internal communications and approaches on handling the Coronavirus from our various offices around the world. …
